Through the Composer Librettist Development Program (CLDP), Resident Artists have the opportunity to develop short one-act chamber operas for three to five singers under the mentorship of master teacher Mark Adamo.  To date, the program has provided intensive, personalized mentorship to 30 gifted emerging artists who have developed 11 short chamber operas during their first year in the program. While this project is considered a core component of the CLDP curriculum and is intended to develop skills in both composers and librettists, many of these first year projects have been incredibly successful, and have gone one to be produced at opera companies and conservatories around the country – ranging from Center City Opera in Philadelphia to the San Francisco Conservatory.

These wonderful short operas were all written with piano accompaniment, and are ideal for a wide variety of venues. Some of these operas have been orchestrated for chamber ensembles or chamber orchestra since being workshopped at ALT. We invite you to browse through these wonderful short new works, and to consider producing them!
