STEPHEN M. WEINER is a member emeritus of Mintz, a law firm currently with offices in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, Toronto and  Washington, D.C.  He was the founding chair of the firm’s health law practice and represented health care companies in a broad array of legal matters, including strategic positioning; mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures; and regulatory and reimbursement matters.  He has worked internationally, for example developing the health regulatory structure for Dubai Healthcare City, and as the co-chair of the International Bar Association’s Healthcare and Life Sciences Committee.  In addition to chairing the Board of the American Lyric Theater, Steve serves as the Board Chief Compliance Officer (and formerly as the founding and long-term Board Chair) of the HealthWell Foundation a tax-exempt organization that provides financial support for out-of- pocket expenses incurred by persons receiving costly medical treatment and drug therapies; and on the Board of Jacob’s Pillow Dance, where he is a member of the Executive Committee and chairs both the Executive Committee’s IDEA Subcommittee and the Board’s Governance and Audit Committee.  He is a trustee emeritus of the Boston Ballet and of the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Care and had served as a trustee of Opera Boston.  Steve was named by Best Lawyers as a Lawyer of the Year for Health Care Law in Boston and by Nightingale’s Healthcare News as an Outstanding Hospital Lawyer.  He is a recipient of the Good Guy Award from the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus and named as one of the Massachusetts Medical Law Report’s Rx for Excellence Leaders in Quality.  He is a graduate of Harvard College and of the Yale Law School.
