CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF AMERICAN LYRIC THEATER
In celebration of our 20th anniversary, American Lyric Theater presented a gala concert on October 23, 2025 at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City, which featured scenes from a wide range of operas by alumni of ALT’s Composer Librettist Development Program (CLDP), including works developed and commissioned by ALT as well as operas that were commissioned and premiered at other leading companies across the country. We also took this opportunity to honor Susan Feder, whose 15-year tenure as Program Officer in the Arts and Culture Program at the Mellon Foundation was transformative for the American opera field. Susan’s visionary leadership and support of ALT helped to catalyze our growth and amplify our national impact.
We are delighted to share the video of this concert with you. Over the past two decades, operas written by CLDP alumni have been produced by more than 125 companies around the world. 16 of these works are featured on this concert, a small sampling of the extraordinary impact of ALT alumni. The program book above includes complete concert details, a brief history of American Lyric Theater, and information about operas written by ALT alumni—artists whose work continues to shape the evolving landscape of American opera. We hope you enjoy the concert!
